Why do I need to signup?

When you have signed up, your choir is automatically included in the gerontius choir directory. As a member of the site, you can also add your choir's concerts to the gerontius concert diary, and you can add your choir's scores to the music hire database.

Should the user name be my name or the choir's name?

It's up to you. We recommend you to use the choir's name (eg Oxford Bach Choir might use obc or oxbach), but if you're going to be the person responsible for making sure that your concerts are listed correctly on the website for the foreseeable future, then there's no reason why you shouldn't use your name.

I'm trying to sign up, but gerontius won't accept my user name or password. What should I do?

There are several possible reasons for this. User names and passwords must be at least 3 letters long and not more than 12. User names should contain letters only.

I'm the choir's publicity officer, but I'm retiring at the end of the year and someone else is taking over. Can I change my details?

You can change your details at any time. The only field which you can't change is the user name. This is because the details you enter about concerts are linked to the user name so that only you can modify or delete them. In this case we recommend you use the choir's name as a user name.

Nearest town : What is this used for?

The nearest town is important because it's one of the ways people can search the concert diary to find concerts they might be interested in going to. Please choose the town nearest to the venue where you most often perform. The list of towns contains all the main post towns in the UK, and a few other towns which have a lively musical life. If you would like us to add a town, please send us an e-mail.

Why do you want to know the type and size of the choir?

People can use the "Find Choirs" page to search for a choir to join. These details will be shown here, as will the information for prospective members and the brief description.

If I choose to receive the gerontius newsletter, can I change my mind if I don't want to receive it any more?

Yes, you can cancel at any time.

If I join, will you shower me with e-mails?

Certainly not. We do reserve the right to contact you occasionally. This might be to let you know about changes to the web site, or if there is a problem with the site. We are unlikely to contact you more than 4 times a year.

What's the catch?

People often ask us this. There really isn't a catch. We intend to keep gerontius as a free service for choirs. The only catch is an occasional email from us.
